Work From Home may once again be given to techies after the rise in Covid 19 cases in India, and new variants coming to the fore

With COVID cases on the rise in certain nations, IT firms in India are rethinking their current return-to-work strategies, and may even offer Work From Home to employees. This comes after the Union Health Ministry stated that the next 40 days might be critical for India because of an increase in Covid-19 cases in January.

Do the employees need to come to the office?

Several IT firms in India have asked employees to come into the office twice or three times a week. According to Financial Express, people with a five-day work week from the office may see their plans change.

"Despite being cautious, organisations have already put mitigation measures and coping mechanisms to deal with potential interruptions and hold up the corporate culture, shared purpose, and feeling of community as a major concern." 

Tata Consultancy Services wrote a scathing email to its staff last September, requesting them to work from offices at least thrice weekly. The corporation also asked that its techies adhere to the rosters established by their respective supervisors. However, several businesses may reconsider their current policy if the fourth COVID wave strikes the country.

Employees of Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and Infosys, on the other hand, continue to have the freedom to work from anywhere, and the trend of hybrid work is projected to continue in 2023.

Even though many firms are contemplating work-from-home options for their workers in the aftermath of growing COVID instances, many employees seek greater flexibility in their working life. They are willing to accept wage cuts, according to research. According to the survey, 76.07 percent of employees in India would want to have control over their working hours, and they would take a wage loss to ensure the flexibility of working remotely or having the option to rotate between home and office.
