How Monitoring of ISRO Chandrayaan 3 Live is Being Done?
Throughout the mission, the health of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC), the Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) antenna at Byalalu, near Bengaluru, with the support from ESA and JPL Deep space antenna. As of now, the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC), developed at the Space Applications Centre, is assisting the lander in locating a safe landing area without boulders or deep trenches during the descent.
ISRO has issued a statement saying the Lander Module (LM) health is normal, and has successfully undergone deboosting operations that reduced its orbit. The powered descent towards the moon’s surface is expected to commence on 23 August 23 at 5:45 PM IST. A series of complex braking maneuvers will be executed to facilitate a soft landing of the ISRO Chandrayaan 3 in the South Polar region of the Moon.
