Veeam Software, an innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Always-On Enterprise, announced industry analyst Ovum’s latest report ranks Veeam the top provider for Cloud era availability and protection technology.
The Ovum Decision Matrix: Data Availability and Protection Solution for the Cloud Era, 2016-17 is an evaluation of future-looking business challenges and the technology solutions that underpin today’s 24.7.365 enterprises. The report focuses on how non-stop access to data and applications is central to the digital enterprise transformation made possible by the wide adoption of cloud-based computing strategies. As such, Ovum identified Veeam as the clear market leader in the technology necessary to stay competitive in the fast evolving Cloud driven world.
“From the largest enterprise to the single-employee business, knowing that company data can be accessed from anywhere and at anytime, that it is protected and recoverable even during a potential failure is expected in the modern world today,” said Peter McKay, President and COO at Veeam. “Going forward we see a new, more complex layer of capability the Cloud era brings to the data equation. That is what we are innovating on and why Ovum, along with more than 215,000 of our customers around the world, recognizes Veeam as a leader.”
The criteria for inclusion in the latest Ovum Decision Matrix is based on a number of factors: global footprint; ability to offer data availability and protection capabilities that enable management of data across all different types of media; having more than 500 customers (a mixture of mid-sized enterprises and large enterprises). Ovum also compared each vendor on three dimensions: technology, execution, and market impact.
Based on this, Veeam is the market leader in terms of market impact and technology innovation, with a mean score of 8/10, out-scoring all others in this area. Ovum recognized Veeam’s specific strength in operational management, security, backup and recovery, performance and scalability, and reporting and integration, and called this out in the report.
“One of the most significant developments made by Veeam is how it is supporting organizations with their digital transformation,” said Roy Illsley, Principal Analyst at Ovum. “In expanding its portfolio to include agent-based technologies for Windows and Linux server instances, either in the cloud or on-premises, Veeam perfectly rounds out their solution to cover virtual, physical and cloud-based workloads.”
