According to a Ministry of Labour and Employment release, the National Career Service (NCS) site reported a record-breaking 35.7 lakh openings for 2022-23, up from over 13 lakh vacancies the previous year.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is implementing the National Career Service project as a Mission Mode Project to provide various employment-related services such as job matching, vocational assistance, career counselling, information on internships, and skill development courses. These services are available online and were launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister.

Rise in Vacancies in 2022-23

In 2022-23, the NCS portal had a 175% rise in vacancy reporting, with the most active openings recorded on 30 October 2022. The surge in vacancy postings has been noticed across all sectors, including banking and insurance, which posted 20.8 lakh openings during 2022-23 compared to 2.2 lakh vacancies the previous year, reflecting a more than 800% increase. The operations and support industry grew 400%, with 3.75 lakh vacancies reported in 2022-23. Furthermore, the NCS site reached a milestone of enrolling more than 1 million employers since its start in 2022-23, with over 8 lakh employers registered in 2022-23.
