Amazon has finally made available one of the most awaited features in India as well. The Fire TV Stick can now be controlled without the voice remote and by only giving voice commands to Amazon Echo. Users can watch their favorite Amazon Prime shows by just telling the Fire TV Stick to “Play Mirzapur” and so on.

According to Amazon website, how users can avail this facility is by just telling their Alexa device what they want to do, and Alexa will complete the action directly on the user’s Fire TV. However, to enjoy this feature it is required for consumers to have the latest Fire TV device software update, as well as the latest version of the Alexa app.

Alexa will most likely complete the linking process should the user have only one Fire TV registered to their account by just giving an appropriate voice command including Fire TV Stick to Alexa. However, If users have more than one Fire TV device, they will need to use the Alexa app to pair all the devices by taking the following steps:

  1. Go to the menu and select Settings.
  2. Go to TV and Video and select Fire TV.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Select Link Devices to confirm your selection.

Users also have the option of viewing and managing their linked devices from their Alexa app by going to Settings from the menu, selecting TV and Video, selecting their linked Fire TV, and then finally can select on the option that says Manage devices. Only one Alexa device can control one Fire TV a time, even though there is an option of linking multiple Alexa devices to the same Fire TV. Also, to link Alexa and Fire TV, they must be registered to the same Amazon account, says the Amazon website.

The Fire TV Stick costs Rs 3,999 on Amazon India.
