There are different ways to protect yourself from various potential threats in 2024 or at any time:

Vigilance against scams: Watch for phishing emails, odd links, and unsolicited demands for personal information. Before responding to or disclosing sensitive information, double-check the integrity of the request. Furthermore, to control what information is shared and with whom, regularly review and adjust your privacy settings on social networking platforms and other online accounts.

PIN security: Keep your digital devices updated with the latest security updates, use strong, unique passwords, and exercise caution when sharing sensitive information online. According to Shikhar Aggarwal, Chairman of BLS E-Services, "Avoid sharing your UPI PIN, Password, or OTP with anyone in person, over phone calls, emails, or text messages to prevent unauthorised access and potential UPI fraud."

Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your UPI transactions. Requiring a second form of authentication offers an extra degree of security. You must secure your UPI PIN by enabling two-factor authentication, monitoring transactions, using trusted apps, changing passwords regularly, and being on the lookout for phishing attempts.

Conclusion

Fraudsters weave webs of deception using bogus UPI names and apps lurking in the shadows online. These digital traps, disguised as valuable tips or legitimate sources, are designed to catch naive users. They entice the curious and innocent with tempting promises of fast money or hidden benefits. Behind the mask is a treacherous trap designed to steal your hard-earned money and jeopardise your financial security. So, dear user, remain careful. Stick to reputable sources, double-check every step, and remember that if something appears too good to be true, it probably is. Allow caution to be your digital compass, and travel boldly to avoid the traps of these deceiving doppelgangers.
