Rather than competing with ChatGPT, Nvidia has made its generative AI model available to the public, allowing developers to create their own AI systems and apps that utilise NVLM. The ground-breaking plan that Nvidia is going to employ is already underway. The most recent advancements in AI have been discussed in great detail, and it is now clear that the AI revolution is beginning. The two "main" players in this revolution are Nvidia, the most valuable corporation in the world, and OpenAI's ChatGPT system, which has its competition.

Why is OpenAI so unique? Specifically, its chatbot, ChatGPT, and its generative AI capabilities. Conversely, Nvidia is well-known for its chips, which it sells to businesses like OpenAI so that they can handle all of its generative AI tasks. With the release of Nvidia's NVLM 1.0 family in early October 2024, the generative AI field appeared to transform permanently. This is particularly important since ChatGPT's GPT-4o model can at least match the performance of the broad family of multimodal language models. Nvidia is using its knowledge of GPUs to create a platform that can be used to create and train different AI models, including chatbots, rather than concentrating on developing a standalone chatbot.

Nvidia's AI: Pros

Nvidia's strategy for AI development has significant benefits that make it an appealing option for companies and developers. Flexibility is one of the main advantages; developers can better customise Nvidia's platform than standalone chatbots, allowing them to modify AI models to suit specific requirements. This flexibility is enhanced by scalability since Nvidia's potent GPUs can manage AI training and inference, which makes the platform perfect for creating models. Furthermore, by significantly speeding up the training and procedures, Nvidia's technology improves efficiency and enables quicker development cycles. Another advantage of Nvidia's platform is its simplicity of integration; it can be easily integrated with hardware and software infrastructure, allowing businesses to take advantage of their current resources while implementing cutting-edge AI capabilities.

Nvidia's AI: Cons

Due to several issues, some customers may find Nvidia's approach to AI development less appealing. One of its main disadvantages is the difficulty of creating and training AI models, which calls for specific knowledge and might take a lot of time. Due to its complexity, businesses with a strong technical experience may find it easier to utilise Nvidia's platform fully. Furthermore, the technology and software required for AI creation and execution can be expensive, making them unaffordable for startups or smaller businesses. The competitive nature of the AI market presents another difficulty for Nvidia, as other businesses with comparable platforms and technologies battle with it to offer more affordable or easily accessible solutions. These elements may affect how widely Nvidia's strategy is adopted and its success.

However, this model demonstrates how Nvidia decides to compete with ChatGPT. It won't, at least not right now, by introducing a chatbot similar to Copilot, Gemini, or ChatGPT. Rather than competing with ChatGPT, Nvidia has made its generative AI model available to the public, allowing developers to create their own AI systems and apps that utilise NVLM.

The ground-breaking plan that Nvidia is going to employ is already underway. In a paper announcing the model, the chipmaker also disclosed that the weights and training code for the language would be made publicly available. As per Nvidia's study, "We present NVLM 1.0, a family of frontier-class multimodal large language models (LLMs) that rival the top proprietary models (like GPT-4o) and open-access models, achieving state-of-the-art results on vision-language tasks."

Nvidia's AI system, NVLM 1.0, is highly good at distinguishing people, animals, and objects and giving pertinent replies to questions, according to specific human-performed tests. One of the more advanced tests demonstrated the AI's interpretation skills when it could explain why a meme was humorous. It would be different from ChatGPT because of this.

According to Nvidia's AI benchmarks, it can perform better than Google and OpenAI systems in some jobs

In the announcement paper, Nvidia presented its AI benchmarks against top generative AI systems. It can practically surpass Google's Gemini Pro and ChatGPT's GPT4-o in specific jobs. Notably, considering this is only the AI's 1.0 version, Nvidia's AI was comparable to Meta's Llama AI in answering challenging mathematical problems. The most intriguing element is Nvidia's AI, which differs from programs like ChatGPT in that it will be open source. However, there is a drawback as well. You shouldn't anticipate a chatbot from Nvidia very soon if you frequently use ChatGPT. Instead, we ought to be anticipating what developers will be able to create with this exceptional technology.
