Qrator Labs, a global leader in network security and DDoS mitigation, has launched a new traffic filtering center in Mumbai, India, aimed at bolstering the country's defenses against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This strategic expansion will allow Qrator Labs to provide its advanced cloud-based security solutions to more companies across India, ensuring stronger protection with minimal traffic delays.

Andrey Leskin, CTO of Qrator Labs, emphasized the importance of this move, stating, "As part of our mission to make the internet safer, we aim to extend our services to as many businesses in India as possible. With this new center, our DDoS protection is now more accessible, enhancing both security and infrastructure resilience."

India’s rapid digital transformation has made it an attractive market for cybersecurity solutions. By the end of 2023, the country had deployed over 400,000 5G base stations, marking a 7.7-fold increase in just one year, according to GSMA Intelligence. This swift growth is seen as a national priority, especially given India's large rural population. The expanding digital infrastructure is fueling local entrepreneurship and startups, particularly among younger demographics.

With India experiencing rapid digital transformation, including the widespread deployment of 5G, the nation has also seen a significant rise in cyberattacks. The growing adoption of internet-based services has made businesses more vulnerable, with DDoS attacks increasing by 76% in early 2024. This surge underscores the urgent need for advanced cybersecurity solutions, such as the DDoS protection services now offered by Qrator Labs through their newly launched traffic filtering center in Mumbai.

However, this digital acceleration has also led to a sharp rise in cyberattacks. DDoS attacks in India surged by 76% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, while bot attacks skyrocketed by 147%.

"As more businesses emerge and competition intensifies, cyberattacks are becoming a greater concern," Leskin noted. "DDoS attacks remain a significant threat, particularly in regions where businesses lack adequate protection."
