Microsoft Corporation has announced a $1.5 billion strategic investment in Abu Dhabi’s G42 to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) development and global expansion. G42 is a leading UAE-based AI technology holding company, and this collaboration between these two entities marks a significant move in the growth and innovation journey of both organizations.
The collaboration between G42 and Microsoft is not only a mere financial investment but is an initiative to bring the latest Microsoft AI technologies to the UAE and other countries worldwide. Both companies are not only focusing on advancing AI technologies in developed markets but also on empowering underserved nations. They aim to bring advanced AI and digital infrastructure to countries in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa through this partnership while ensuring equitable access to services while upholding the highest standards of security and privacy.

The business collaboration is supported by an innovative agreement that ensures both governments adhere to the highest criteria for the safe, dependable, and responsible development and implementation of AI. Microsoft and G42 will enhance the security and compliance framework of their shared global infrastructure, by working closely together. Both firms commit to abiding by relevant laws and regulations in the US and outside concerning security, responsible AI, trade, and commercial integrity. G42 and Microsoft are collaborating on this initiative under the terms of a comprehensive Intergovernmental Assurance Agreement (IGAA) that was drafted in close cooperation with the governments of the US and the UAE.
