In a world rapidly shaped by digital innovation, managing large-scale digital transformation projects is critical for driving change in governance. In terms to keep up with the ongoing transformation and empower government officials with the skills and insights required to lead such initiatives, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has launched a transformative 5-day Capacity Building Programme. Held from November 25 to 29, 2024, at the Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam, this program is part of India’s broader Digital India Vision.

As digital governance becomes central to modern governance, the challenge lies not only in conceptualizing innovative projects but also in executing them efficiently and sustainably. The Capacity Building Programme on “Managing Large Digital Transformative Projects” addresses this challenge by equipping government officials with tools and frameworks to:

The program saw active participation from 24 officers representing Central Line Ministries and States/Union Territories across the country. Participants hailed from diverse regions, including New Delhi, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, Hyderabad, Nagaland, and Punjab, ensuring a rich exchange of perspectives and experiences.

One of the key highlights was the focus on enabling officials to navigate the complexities of managing digital infrastructures and implementing scalable projects. Officials explored strategies for resolving challenges in project execution and ensuring their success, aligning their efforts with the broader goals of the Capacity Building Scheme under Digital India. This initiative aims to train government officials across all levels in conceptualizing, designing, and executing e-governance projects tailored to India’s unique requirements.
