The creation of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), an independent organization that would serve as a comprehensive technology-driven enabling mechanism to enable youth-led development, was approved by the Union cabinet on Wednesday. This is for the first time, a government plan is being referred to as "Bharat".
Anurag Thakur, a Union minister, announced the decision and claimed that it would help young people between the ages of 15 and 29 to develop their leadership abilities. The beneficiaries of the program's elements designed exclusively for teenagers will fall between the age range of 10 to 19 years. A few hours after Thakur revealed the trailer for an upcoming animated series called "Bharat Hain Hum," which will highlight a number of underappreciated figures from India's freedom movement.
This autonomous body will be dedicated to the country on 31st October, the day of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary.
"The cabinet decision on establishing Mera Yuva Bharat will go a long way in furthering youth-led development and giving wings to the aspirations of our talented Yuva Shakti," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on X.
Regarding the cabinet's decision, Thakur stated that the "My Bharat" platform is intended to increase awareness and encourage young people to participate in government initiatives. However, he added that the program is not intended to serve as a financial incentive but rather as a platform for motivated young people who want to contribute positively to society.
"Under the new arrangement, with access to resources and connection to opportunities, youth would become community change agents and nation builders allowing them to act as the 'yuva setu' between the government and the citizens. It seeks to harness the immense youth energy for nation-building," said an official statement.
According to the government, the implementation of "My Bharat" would enable adolescents to develop their leadership abilities through practical learning, moving away from solitary physical engagement and towards programmatic abilities. Additionally, it will result in increased youth investment in order to develop them as community leaders and social innovators.
The program, according to the statement, will also direct the government's attention towards youth-led development and turn them into "active drivers" rather than merely "passive recipients" of progress.
