Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister of Urban Development today declared the list of 98 cities which are to be converted into smart cities. Surprisingly, Bengaluru, Patna, Kolkata, Itanagar, and Shimla have been missing from the smart city list of the government.
Maximum number of to-be-developed smart cities are in UP, followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Uttar Pradesh leads the list with 13 cities chosen to be developed as smart cities.
