The Ethereum blockchain will be integrated with India’s education system to give students with tamper-proof diploma certificates. The Maharashtra government has partnered with LegitDoc, an Indian blockchain technology start-up, to launch this mammoth effort. On World Youth Skills Day in 2021, the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development (MSBSD) made the formal announcement.

The Maharashtra State Skill Development Council (MSBSD) plans to implement a public blockchain based on the Ethereum network to combat the growing problem of document fabrication. While certificates can still be confirmed via traditional ways, MSBSD will solely use the digital verification method starting next year, according to LegitDoc CEO Neil Martis in an exclusive statement to Cointelegraph.

India is one of the few countries with a higher education e-governance framework in place. Despite the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development (MSBSD) rejecting India’s stance on crypto ban and the usage of Ethereum-based blockchain platforms, the planned collaboration intends to prevent the growth of document fraud.

With its smart functions, blockchain technology has begun to alter the financial sector around the world. The Maharashtra government recognised its transparency potential and aspired to join the government of Malta, the government of Bahrain, and the government of Singapore as the fourth institution to adopt Ethereum blockchain in the education system. Through the use of the most secure and transparent blockchain technology, LegitDoc will be able to combat the most professional document fabrication.

All MSBSD students will receive a “certificate LegitDoc.zip” file that contains the original PDF diploma certificate as well as the software’s proof from the Ethereum blockchain. Present students or ex-students, such as employees, employers, or any other university, can do the authentication and verification process. It is widely recognised as the most cost-effective, environmentally sustainable, and migration-friendly procedure for students. The Ethereum blockchain’s implementation has freed up a substantial amount of manpower by removing thousands of certificates from this tedious and repetitive activity.
