Logitech to Buy LifeSize
Logitech has agreed to acquire privately held LifeSize Communications of Austin,
Texas for $405 mn. LifeSize is a global leader in high definition (HD) video
communication solutions, with more than 9,000 videoconferencing customers across
eighty countries in large enterprises, small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) and
public healthcare, education, and government organizations.
Consulting, KPIT to Merge
KPIT Cummins Infosystems, an IT consulting and engineering partner to
manufacturing corporations, has entered into a definitive merger agreement with
Sparta Consulting, a California based firm and a provider of high-end SAP
solutions. The all-cash agreement is for a consideration of $38 mn, which
includes a bonus of $4 mn. This transaction is in line with KPITs stated growth
strategy and is expected to result in greater efficiencies and increased market
share. The transaction reinforces current SAP strengths of KPIT and the strategy
to create a best-in-class SAP practice. Spartas team and proprietary templates
or methodologies will reinforce KPITs current strengths in value added SAP
solutions to Automotive, Hi-Tech and Industrials sectors. And also, Spartas
footprint in the Energy & Utilities sector would provide KPIT a headstart into
this adjacent space.
Glodynes Acquires Compulink
Glodyne Technoserve, a technology management services company has approved its
merger with Compulink Systems, a project management software services player,
headquartered in Pune. Glodyne Technoserve has been expanding its managed
services portfolio, and project management space, which as per the Project
Management Institute (PMI) is expected to be worth around $6 bn. The merger
offers Glodyne to leverage on Compulinks strong IPRs and add valuable client
relationships. Compulink is a leader in the project management software services
space, having built Whizible suite for various sectors.
HP Acquires IBRIX
HP and IBRIX have announced a definitive agreement, whereby HP will acquire
IBRIX. The combination of IBRIXs storage software with HPs business technology
portfolio offers customers a full suite of products and services from design,
transformation and management of corporate data centers to the most extreme
scale-out environments. Following the acquisition, the business will be
integrated into StorageWorks division in HPs technology solutions group.
Microsoft Buys SourceGear Assets
Microsoft is acquiring the Teamprise-related assets of SourceGear. Teamprise is
a division of SourceGear focused on creating value-added products for Microsoft
visual studio team system 2008 team foundation server. The terms of the
acquisition are not being disclosed by the two companies. Post acquisition,
functionality from the Teamprise Client Suite will be integrated into the visual
studio product line beginning with visual studio 2010.
