While Jio GigaFiber launch is expected to happen in the first half this year, Reliance fans have news that might cheer them up. Jio GigaFiber has topped the Netflix Internet Speed Index (ISP) for the fourth time in a row for the month of December as well. Jio GigaFiber has managed to maintain its lead at an improved average bitrate of 3.66Mbps from the 3.64Mbps it scored in the month of November.
Prior to this, Jio GigaFiber had scored an average playback rate of 3.48Mpbps in October and 3.41Mbps in September on Netflix ISP. In the second place is 7 Star Digital with a playback rate of 3.44Mbps; Spectranet stands in the third place with a playback rate of 3.38Mbps; and Airtel stands in the fourth place with a playback rate of 3.26Mbps.
The notable observation on December Netflix ISP is, however, that the average playback rate of BSNL has dropped to 1.94Mbps from 2.18Mbps that it had in the month of November. Nevertheless, Netflix has made it very clear that Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on particular ISPs around the globe, and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Although, it is good to know that Jio GigaFiber does stream Netflix content the fastest even before it has seen its commercial launch.
Jio GigaFiber Launch Status
Reliance Jio has not officially confirmed the Jio GigaFiber commercial launch date; however, several reports indicate that Reliance Jio’s ambitious fibre to the home service should be available this year in March. Jio GigaFiber consumers in the meanwhile are taking to social media platforms for clarity on the launch date.
“Allow us to address your concern. Kindly know that JioGigaFiber will be available at your location soon. Keep watching this space, other details will be notified soon,” says the official handle of Jio Care to a consumer who asked about the launch date of Jio GigaFiber.
What the Netflix ISP Means?
Netflix ISP Speed Index is a monthly update on which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions, says the website.
The website also makes it clear that Netflix ISP Speed Index lists the average prime time bitrate for Netflix content streamed to Netflix members during a particular month. The speed indicated in the Netflix ISP Speed Index is not a measure of the maximum throughput or the maximum capacity of an internet service provider.
