Jio GigaFiber launch is an event that has been in the minds of people ever since the services were announced last year. Jio GigaFiber will undoubtedly be the next big disruptor as it provides high-speed internet along with various other offerings like IPTV, connected home, and much more. Jio GigaFiber launch, however, took longer than expected due to challenges that any fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service provider faces.
Nevertheless, it now seems like the wait is finally over. The Jio GigaFiber launch may happen in August 2019. According to an industry source who did not want to be named, the Jio DTH or IPTV services will be available by August. “There is no such thing called Jio DTH, it is IPTV and it could be available in August,” he said. People availing the Jio GigaFiber services would soon be able to enjoy the IPTV services by connecting their television sets to the router box provided during installation. No extra antennas or satellite dish installation would be required to enjoy this service.
He added that the voice calling services will also be provided soon; however, the complete services that include smart home solutions like voice control, smart temperature control and others may take a year a half to come into the market. The Jio GigaFiber installation can now be availed at a price of Rs 2500, and the speed obtained would be 50 to 60Mbps, he added.
The services will initially be free for a period of three months. Notwithstanding, as per our opinion, it could be extended beyond three months as we have seen the same happening in Reliance Jio telecom services.
The landline or voice calling services will come up with unlimited calling and Jio DTH services would be delivered online through the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) box router, which can connect almost 40 devices such as mobile phones, laptops, TVs and many other smart devices.
Jio GigaFiber and Jio DTH services have gathered massive interest from Indian consumers ever since its inception. The fact that HD quality entertainment, Gigabit WiFi, TV, Smart Home, Free Calling, multi-party video conferencing, virtual reality gaming, shopping, and so on will be offered at affordable prices has caught the attention of consumers.
