Jio AirFiber Plans

Reliance Jio AirFiber will be launched on Ganesh Chaturthi on 19 September, according to RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, during the 46th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries. Ambani stated on Monday that Jio's 5G services are "on track" to reach the country with the ultra-high-speed network by December 2023. Jio AirFiber utilizes Reliance Jio’s pan-India 5G network and advanced wireless technologies to eliminate the necessity for last-mile fiber. Mukesh Ambani stated that through the optical fiber, they are presently able to connect approximately 15,000 premises daily. However, he added that with the implementation of Jio AirFiber, the company could enhance this expansion significantly, achieving up to 150,000 connections per day. He highlighted that this would result in a ten-fold increase, ultimately broadening their addressable market to over 200 million high-paying homes and premises within the following three years.

He also pointed out that through fixed-mobile convergence, they can encourage increased engagement and loyalty among Indian households, particularly among premium households where the usage of home broadband is experiencing the most rapid growth. He further mentioned that this strategy sets the groundwork for the widespread adoption of various Smart Home solutions.

Jio already has over 450 million customers

Its 5G network currently reaches 96% of municipalities, with the business on schedule to serve the country by December. "Jio's overall customer base has now surpassed 450 million subscribers, reflecting a year-on-year revenue growth of more than 20%," he stated.

On Jio's network, per-user data usage has increased, with the typical user now consuming more than 25 GB monthly. Ambani stated that Jio was founded seven years ago to transform India into a Premier Digital Society and that "we have invested our heart and soul into building a Digital Public Infrastructure which the entire world has begun to admire." He said the network was the primary driver of New India's amazing digital revolution.

Ambani's Outlook

"Now, our ambitions are even higher — and, as I'll explain, they extend beyond the borders of India." Let's start with Jio True 5G, our ground-breaking 5G broadband service. We started rolling out 5G in October of last year. "In just nine months, Jio 5G has reached over 96% of our country's census towns," Ambani remarked.

According to Ambani, the network service provider is already at the forefront of 5G adoption in India, with over 50 million 5G consumers. "We are also the only company capable of seamlessly transitioning our 4G customer base to 5G with minimal additional capital expenditure." "We are seeing an increasing trend of high-ARPU, post-paid customers choosing the network as their preferred network as Jio 5G adoption grows," Ambani added.
