ISRO is offering a free online course called Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning for students and professionals
ISRO is currently accepting applications for a free online course called “Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning”, which can be completed in 12 days. The course will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), which is a centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which is a premier training and educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of remote sensing, geoinformatics and GNSS technology for natural resources, environmental and disaster management.
The course is most beneficial for professionals from the Central, State Government, Private Organizations, NGO, students and researchers engaged in ecological studies. All participants of the course will receive an ISRO certificate for attending the course provided they have 70 percent of attendance via the e-class portal. The participants who attend the course sessions via IIRS YouTube channel should mark their attendance via offline session which will be made available after 24 hours.

The course aims at helping participants understand how remote sensing applications are being widely used as a source of environmental information for monitoring biodiversity elements. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:
