Infosys, one of India’s leading IT firms has implemented a new work policy requiring its lower and mid-level employees to be present at the office for 10 days a month. It is a significant policy shift to bring its employees back to the office for a minimum of ten days each month. The decision is a part of Infosy’s broader strategy to enhance its return to office (RTO) approach and embrace a hybrid work model.
As reported by the Economic Times, employees in specific job tiers especially those categorized under V and VI which include mid-level managers, project leaders, and entry-level staff, are expected to spend a minimum of ten days working from the office starting from 20th November 2023. Furthermore, they also introduced the concept of “In-Person Collaboration” weeks, during which all employees will be required to work from the office.
The move taken by Infosys aligns with the current trend going on in the IT industry. Companies like Wipro, Capgemini, LTMindtree, and TCS have already been following the return to office (RTO) approach and encouraging their workforce to return to the office on a more regular basis.
As it is positioned as the second largest IT firm in India, Infosys’s decision is expected to make a significant impact on the flexibility of remote work within the tech sector. The flexible work-from-home culture that initially emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic has always been a point of discussion within many organizations.
It is still unclear whether this decision is going to be applicable to all verticals and divisions within Infosys. Reportedly, the email received by employees of Infosys has specifically mentioned its applicability to “employees in India locations.”
Infosys acknowledges the need for a balance between remote work flexibility and increased in-person interaction in today’s dynamic work environment. The decision can be seen as a part of its broader efforts to adapt to evolving work culture.
