While Infosys, TCS and Cognizant, etc have the expertise to handle large size enterprises for their traditional applications, a small software services company like Incedo has developed a core capability and feels proud in handling the data management, analytics and mobility part for its customers. Here are the excerpts of the chat with Tejinderpal Singh Miglani, CEO, Incedo Inc.
What sets Incedo apart from the competition?
Incedo is not an average technology services firm. With a team that is young, agile and made up of industry practitioners, we have been able to create a new model to deliver IT services.
Our company’s engineering and vertical industry expertise distinguishes itself from other companies who are made up largely of technology consultants and not industry practitioners. Over 40% of our employees come from the industry and with deep domain expertise after having worked on the client-side operations. This is where they have been users of the technology that has been developed and also worked on real time project/issues and their solutions.
We have the ability to innovate, execute and ultimately bring business benefits to our customers. Incedo prides itself on being able to “think like clients”. Our customer needs guide our actions from the very basic to the most strategic level .This enables us to manage large scale projects with the agility, energy and flexibility of a start-up. We believe that you need to be able to own and understand business problems in order to develop solutions that work. This is one of exceptional reasons why Incedo co- invests in its clients' businesses in innovative ways. We work as a trusted partner that strengthens its client’s competiveness.
What are the niche vertical capabilities that make you a strong player?
Incedo operates out of three industry verticals – financial services, life sciences and communication engineering. Our core specialties include - data management, BI & analytics, mobile services and communication technologies.
Over the past few years we have seen data and mobile become center stage in the way our clients build and use technology. In the new normal, enterprise applications will be architected around data and how it is made available to its end users, primarily through Mobile and Cloud. Our focus and strengths play directly into these areas.
A large percentage of our revenue is derived from these two areas making us a larger and faster growing firm than many of the highly valued and coveted companies in this area of service.
What kind of engineering talent do you have to meet the customer expectations?
Being industry practitioners from the start, we have a relentless focus on hiring people with strong industry know-how and experience. Innovation runs in our DNA, a strong passion for working on cutting edge technologies and an understanding about emerging technologies are some of the pre-requisites. We hire fresh engineering graduates from some of the top engineering schools; in addition we attract some of the best and brightest industry talent from the larger IT services firms. These are candidates who are looking to experience continuous growth and expansion in their careers. A large majority of our employees are B.Techs, BE and MCAs, a small percentage are PhDs. Structured thinking is another vital trait. It’s about how an engineer can take a vague business/technical problem, assemble it and come out with multiple propositions and a concrete business solution.
High levels of integrity and commitment to work are two other vital aspects that we look out for.
What is your growth plan globally? Are you looking at the US market alone?
Since inception in the year 2011, Incedo has experienced an average growth of 600%. Last year (2015-16), we grew at 85% and expect strong revenue growth at these levels over the next coming years.
From an expansion mode within India, we plan to add more development centers. At present we have an innovation and development center located in - Gurgaon and Bengaluru. We will soon be opening another development center in Chennai. Our expansion in India is strategically planned to give us access to the talent market.
From a global perspective, the U.S market presents a huge opportunity for us. We have been able to mark a strong presence in that market and continue to do so… As a growing company; we are continuously looking to expand into other geographies. We see the UK and the Middle East markets as the next two geographic areas we will setup offices in.
What is the total strength of the company? Do you plan to add more people?
Presently, Incedo has 1500 employees globally and as a growing firm our talent acquisition team has robust hiring plans in order.
Is it possible to share a few customer names?
Today we serve over forty clients, out of whom we work with one of the top five global banks, four of the top ten leading pharma / life sciences companies and one of the top telecommunications companies in the world.
