IIT Madras is at present offering the first week of its newly launched online BSc degree in data science and programming for free to all interested learners. “Get first-hand experience of the course by accessing coursework from Week 1 for FREE! If you like the material, apply for the full course,” says the IIT Madras Online Degree Programme account on Twitter.
As part of this offer, Week 1 content videos have been made available for the first four Foundational Level courses namely: Mathematics for Data Science I, Statistics for Data Science I, Computational Thinking and English I. There are over 30 videos and nearly ten videos each under each of the courses.
Some of the free videos available under the IIT Madras online BSc degree in data science and programming are Concept of Variables, Iterators and Filtering, Tutorial on Concept of Variables, Iterators and Filtering, Iterations using Combination of Filtering Conditions, Natural Numbers and Their Operations, Local Operations and Max in Single Iteration - Part 1 and 2, Introduction and Types of Data, Construction of Subsets and Set Operations, Real and Complex Number, and so on to name a few.
Learners can also take up to four assignments under the one week of free course, and then apply for the IIT Madras online BSc degree in data science and programming is they like the material. IIT Madras says that they have already received 10,000 applications for the course.
The Foundational level would cost learners Rs 32,000 for General, OBC or EWS candidates with family income above 5 lakhs per annum, Rs 16,000 for General, OBC or EWS candidates with family income above 1 lakh and less than 5 lakhs per annum, Rs 16,000 for PwD, SC, or ST candidates with family income above 1 lakh per annum, and Rs 8000 for those with family income below 1 lakh per annum.
