The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Delhi has announced to set up an offshore campus in Abu Dhabi soon. On Saturday, the Union Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi's Education and Knowledge Department (ADEK) inked a Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) for the establishment of an IIT Delhi campus in the Gulf nation, Abu Dhabi. After IIT-Madras, it is the second IIT to announce the establishment of an overseas campus. IIT Madras inked an MoU on 5th July to establish a campus in Zanzibar.
This step towards internationalization of education is a part of the ‘IITs Go Global’ campaign and it also signifies India's ambition to extend its educational expertise on a global scale. The IIT campus will start offering Master's degree courses starting from January 2024 and Bachelor's degree courses will be available from September 2024 and onwards. This move of going international aims to demonstrates the commitment of India’s education system to thrive on a global scale.

It will set a brand new template for leveraging the power of knowledge for both mutual prosperity and global good as envisioned in NEP,” tweeted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
As these prestigious institutions export their expertise to other nations, the general view is that IITs' audacious initiatives mark a paradigmatic shift in India's higher education scene. The IITs will be increasing access to high-quality education and fostering better international relationships by building international campuses.
