IIM Indore and AKTU Signs a MoU to Promote Learning and Empower Women

IIM Indore and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Uttar Pradesh have joined forces to drive women’s empowerment in 75 districts.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Uttar Pradesh have joined forces to drive women’s empowerment in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was officially signed on 30 October 2023, by Prof, Himanshu Rai, Director of IIM Indore, and Prof, J.P. Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of AKTU. The partnership is aimed at achieving academic excellence and social impact.

 “Our commitment to women’s empowerment continues to steer our initiatives. In collaboration with AKTU, we are poised to launch specialized training programs aimed at cultivating financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and leadership qualities among women across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh,” said Prof. Himanshu Rai.

The objective of this MoU is to provide significant opportunities that will empower women, positioning them as influential leaders and change agents within their respective communities. The programs are designed to foster financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and leadership abilities among the women of the state. The programs associated with this program will ultimately create impactful opportunities that equip and uplift women, enabling them to emerge as leaders in their communities.

“We are determined to take initiatives towards building a robust academic network that fosters innovation and skill development in the state, focusing on women empowerment. This collaboration extends to jointly working across all 75 districts of the state’s widely acclaimed initiative, ‘One District One Product. Together with IIM Indore, we aim to create a conducive environment for learning and growth,” said Prof. J.P. Pandey.

 The framework of this MoU includes various collaborative initiatives including the development of specialized programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of academic staff in colleges and universities across Uttar Pradesh.  Additionally, both institutions will engage in a joint effort to design short-term and long-term certificate courses while undertaking research and consultancy projects.

The collaboration is taking a social responsibility through its initiatives beyond academics including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) activities. Both institutes involved in the memorandum are committed to working together on initiatives related to entrepreneurship development and the establishment of incubation centers with the goal of making a positive impact on society.
