Google For India 2018 event being held in New Delhi today is being streamed live on Youtube. Google is announcing a slew of innovations meant to improve the quality of life of Indians. After introducing a product Matt Analyser meant to help farmers in the assessment of grain quality, Google announced a new artificial intelligence system to warn on floods that is first being applied to Patna, while hoping to spread to other cities.
Artificial Intelligence can help deliver accurate and timely flood warnings, therefore saving a lot of lives and avoiding damage to economy. Rajan Anandan, Google Managing Director, said that along with these innovations, Google and its employees are contributing $1 million, to support flood relief efforts in Kerala and Karnataka. As of now Google has partnered with the Ministry of Water Resources to launch a pilot flood forecast system in Patna, and plans to do the same in other cities in India.
