At the recently-held Zscaler conference, Zenith Live ‘24, in Las Vegas, USA, I managed to catch a few moments with Syam Nair, CTO and EVP of R&D, Zscaler.
Despite best efforts, breaches still happen. How are you meeting the challenge? Syam Nair said that attacks have been happening throughout the world. The attack surface area has also been increasing simultaneously. You also have the presence of data centers, clouds, etc.
Zscaler model is not a gate. ZT stands for zero implicit trust. We are now leveraging AI. We have been using AI in our platforms since 2018. We are now looking at GenAI cases. We should also be looking at the present and future attack paths.
AI vs. AI?
Regarding the use of AI vs. AI in the security space, Zscaler currently has the technical architecture to be ahead of the bad actors. We need to win the battle at least 100% of the time. Attacks can come from the use of software. Zero trust means putting everything behind an exchange. If any breach does happen, it means that we have just one point to quarantine.
Zero trust is based on identity and trust. We are creating connections. The firewall/VPN can be like a gate. We have over 420+ billion transactions happening over the network. So far, we have not had any impact from the customers side.
Indian banks have also been pushing Zscaler very hard for innovation. We are heavily invested in India, We also had a conference in Mumbai earlier this year.
