Ransomware remains a significant threat to organizations, often leading to IT outages and downtime. The 2024 Veeam Ransomware Trends Report indicates that 41% of data is compromised during cyberattacks. VeeamON Tour India is specifically designed for backup and recovery professionals, offering them opportunities to enhance their skills, gain insights into ransomware protection, and share industry knowledge. The event includes content from partners like Microsoft, ExaGrid, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, and Red Hat, providing resources and strategies to address these challenges.

Sandeep Bhambure, Vice President & Managing Director, Veeam Software for India & SAARC, emphasized the importance of data resilience as India continues to grow as a technological hub. He noted the critical need for organizations to mitigate cyber threats that could impact both reputation and revenue and highlighted Veeam’s focus on offering robust solutions for data resilience. This year’s VeeamON Tour India aims to share insights into data resilience in the context of a digitalizing India, featuring keynotes, skill-building sessions, and networking opportunities with industry experts.

During the Delhi leg of the event, Veeam introduced its first ransomware whitepaper for the Indian market, titled "Comprehensive Ransomware Mitigation Strategies for India.” The whitepaper provides guidelines from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) on responding to ransomware attacks and emphasizes the need for strong disaster recovery, business continuity, and cyber resilience practices to safeguard Indian organizations.

In partnership with Microsoft and Women in Cloud, Veeam India also launched the #WICxSkillsReady Challenge at the event. This program is designed to upskill over 1,000 professionals in AI and cybersecurity, preparing them for roles in DevSecOps. The initiative responds to the growing demand for AI and cybersecurity skills, highlighted by the 2024 Work Trend Index and the reported shortage of cybersecurity professionals in India.

The event also included discussions on Data Resilience, AI, Data Protection, and other topics, aimed at equipping professionals with the knowledge needed to protect businesses from ransomware and understand emerging industry trends. These sessions are part of VeeamON Tour India's broader goal to enhance understanding and preparedness in the face of growing cyber threats.
