HerRising 2024 : Empowering Women’s Careers Through Innovation and Community

HerRising 2024, India’s largest hybrid career fair dedicated to women, successfully launched its first in-person event in Gurugram, creating a powerful platform for professional growth, learning, and networking. Organized by HerKey, a pioneering community for women’s career advancement, the event drew women professionals and industry leaders from diverse sectors, all united in the goal of fostering women’s empowerment.

This year’s theme, #ToBeHer, celebrated the strength, resilience, and ambition of women, encouraging them to thrive in their careers while balancing the multifaceted demands of life. The event was packed with keynote speeches, workshops, and panel discussions, all aimed at providing women with the tools and inspiration needed to advance in their professional journeys.

A key technological highlight of HerRising 2024 was the role of HerKey’s platform in creating a supportive ecosystem for women’s careers. The event also underscored the importance of technology in connecting women with mentors, job opportunities, and professional development resources. Muru Arjunan, CTO of HerKey, opened the event by discussing the 4Ms that shape a woman’s life—Marriage, Mobility, Motherhood, and Medical Care—and how these factors influence career progression. Muru emphasized that the HerKey platform aims to bridge these gaps by providing women with access to resources and allies to help them navigate these life stages and thrive professionally.

Another major focus of the event was the unveiling of "The Broken Rung: Challenges in Women's Career Progression", a report co-authored by HerKey and the Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management. This report highlights the technological and systemic barriers that often hinder women from ascending to leadership roles in the workplace. Using data-driven insights, the report provides actionable recommendations to drive gender equality in the corporate sector.

The event concluded with powerful speeches from industry leaders like Priyanka Gill, Venture Partner at Kalaari Capital, who stressed the importance of continuous growth and resilience in today’s dynamic career landscape.
