ChatGPT has now become a common name across probably most households. In fact, OpenAI’s conversational chatbot has managed to reach out over 100 million users within just two months of its launch. The app has overtaken Instagram and TikTok that are hugely popular apps, which took 2.5 years and 9 months to reach 100 million subscribers, respectively. The rise in its popularity is due to that fact that the AI chatbot can do various things accurately.

For instance, ChatGPT can write essays for students, recipes, lyrics, poetry, and even write codes. ChatGPT’s abilities has also given rise to the artificial intelligence taking over human jobs. Some of the jobs that are at risk are as follows:

Software engineering: ChatGPT has reportedly been able to write quite a few codes, and this has also given rise to fears of the platform being misused by bad elements. Software engineers hence will not be able to save their jobs by writing basic codes anymore.

Journalism: The chatbot is able to write basic stories extremely well within a matter of seconds, and there is an option to regenerate responses until one obtains the required story or information. Several media houses are already using automated story generators to help with the volume of stories being published.

Graphic designers: ChatGPT also provides original images within a short time if a topic and specifications are given to it. Unless Google comes up with a no tool policy for original images, graphic designers could get replaced by ChatGPT.

Professor V Ramgopal Rao, former IIT Delhi director, shared the following 5 tips using which students and professionals can ensure that they continue to stay relevant:

• Continuous learning and upgradation of skills as well as learning to use new tools like ChatGPT effectively to boost personal and group's productivity is extremely pertinent.
• Innovation that arises from networking with people coming from different cultures, attitudes and backgrounds will be an important aspect in furthering careers.
• Being shallow, casual and comfortable about a job will ensure that the job does not last long. Learning something new everyday is a must.
• Being an effective team player who ensures personal growth along with the teams’ is also a rare skill.
• Chose a career carefully by not falling for the salary or fear of missing out factors.

“Decide with your heart, but let the mind takeover and do all the planning next. As a famous poet once said, let your desires be guided by heart, and the achievements by your mind. If you take all your decisions by your mind, you may never find your passion and may never do anything great. If you always let your heart to decide, you may not be able to deal with the repercussions. As the saying goes, when you find your passion, you will find your purpose. Heart-Mind coordination is essential for this,” says professor Rao.
