Barracuda Networks announced it has expanded its Cloud Ready program to offer any organization a free 90-day cloud license for Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Barracuda NextGen Firewall on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure (Azure). These award-winning network and application security solutions are available as pay-as-you-go (PAYG) licenses directly through the AWS Marketplace and Azure Marketplace.
“Migrating legacy workloads or new applications to the cloud can be a significant effort, and many organizations make the costly mistake of blindly assuming their legacy on-premises security solutions will extend to the cloud without considering whether these solutions can meet the unique requirements of the cloud,” said Michael Hughes, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Barracuda. “Barracuda’s security solutions are purpose built to bridge the gap between your on-premises and cloud infrastructures. Based on feedback from our public cloud partners who want to offer the same capabilities to their customers, we’ve expanded our Cloud Ready program to help simplify the process so that customers can move to the cloud faster, more cost effectively, and with greater confidence.”
Removing Barriers to Cloud Migration
Barracuda’s Cloud Ready program helps IT buyers secure their new or existing workloads in both AWS and Azure at no charge for 90 days. Barracuda’s Cloud Ready network and application security solutions can be natively deployed and fully integrated with AWS and Azure to amplify all the key benefits of the cloud through auto-scaling, templated configurations, bootstrapping, data-logging and more. Barracuda’s cloud-enabled security suite allows organizations to deploy their applications and workloads securely with the same powerful capabilities and intuitive user interface whether deployed on-premises or in the cloud. Barracuda offers a variety of flexible pricing options, including BYOL, PAYG and metered billing.
The cloud introduces new capabilities to scale network infrastructures and application workloads without the same cost and complexity of on-premises equipment. At the same time, migrating to the cloud can be a complicated process, and moving sensitive business applications to the cloud creates new security requirements. A recent Osterman Research study reported that most respondents cited security concerns as the most common barrier to cloud adoption, with primary concerns being data sovereignty and privacy (58 percent) and general risk control (54 percent). In addition, organizations often need to connect legacy on-premises infrastructure to their new cloud frameworks in a hybrid environment, which can create additional issues with management, access, and policy enforcement.1
“Our broad strategy is a complete transition to a cloud infrastructure,” explained Jeff Thomas, chief technology officer at Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest producer and processor of pork products. “As we start to build a more robust e-commerce presence in AWS, we expect to get even more value from Barracuda since that’s where the auto-scaling becomes most important—and it’s where you find a lot of the biggest security risks. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall provides the controls we need, has a very easy user interface, and we can configure and provision it directly through the AWS Marketplace, making the Barracuda Web Application Firewall a great solution we can standardize across all our properties.”
