Artificial Intelligence is the future of all humankind. It can reduce cost and increase efficiency at the same time. Today humans know more than they can tell. Prior to Artificial Intelligence, we were unable to articulate our own knowledge which means that we could not automate many tasks that we can do now. Artificial Intelligence is a boon for us as the ability of machines keep improving its performance without humans having to explain exactly how to accomplish all the tasks it is given. It can achieve superhuman performance in a wide range of activities such as detecting frauds and diagnosing disease.

Robotic Surgery has recently made its mark in the healthcare sector in India and is helping surgeons to achieve higher success rate. Because of the precision and accuracy, robotic surgery is a way forward to save more lives. One such company which is working aggressively in the area of robotic surgery in India is a U.S. based firm Vattikuti Technologies. The company has provided hospitals and trusts with Da Vinci Surgical Robots.

With the help of surgical robots, the surgery is done more accurately. It reduces the chances of wrong cuts and helps patient recover faster as compared to open surgery in which the recovery time increases. There is little or no pain, as robotic arms enter the body via tiny incisions. Healing is quicker for patients; and scarring too is minimal. Experts bet big on robotic arms as they see more value in them and believe that there is an overall saving on time and money.

According to Sameer Bhalla Founder, CEO at HealthIntel Services Private Limited (HSPL), “Modern healthcare has progressed greatly, with the advent of big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) working in tandem to synergize the loose sections. Healthcare devices to monitor personal health and robot-assisted surgeries are direct results of a successful AI integration, making operations and diagnosis possible on a much rapider pace, while decreasing recovery time. Yet, work is still in its nascent stage and hence, a full-blown comprehensive system is still in cards. Also, the healthcare industry is risk-aversive, owing to its sensitive functioning and takes time to imbibe far- out innovations. Therefore, there is a long way to go, in terms of complete implementation.”

Artificial Intelligence is not only replacing older algorithms in many applications, but is now superior at many tasks that were once done best by humans.

Deploying AI in Business

“While deploying Artificial Intelligence to any business we first analyze the volume and type of enterprise and customer data. The solutions we create enable customers to automatically identify, predict, and resolve tasks of today’s complex IT environment, thus significantly improving their IT functions, the flexibility of IT operations and reaching optimal IT costs over time” said Dr. Jai Ganesh, Vice President & Head Mphasis NEXT Labs, Mphasis.

Mphasis recently launched InfraGenie which is the fully integrated AI based platform. It is Integrated with end to end IT operations delivery platform across physical, virtual and cloud environments. The stack includes monitoring, IT operations management, ITIL V3 compliant IT service management, private and public cloud integrations, performance analytics and automation. It brings both automation and analytics together to identify, predict and resolve infrastructure problems of today’s complex hybrid IT environment. It helps customers drastically improve their IT functions by providing better customer service and satisfaction to reach optimal IT costs over time. InfraGenie is intelligent automation at its best, as it predicts infrastructure issues before they happen, automates self-learning to make companies’ infrastructure smarter over time, and enhances customer experience by diagnosing and resolving issues on its own. “Another important aspect of InfraGenie is the impact it has on people, technology, and process in a positive way. It brings standardization and optimization into operations through its service delivery and intelligent automation elements. InfraGenie ultimately increases operational efficiency and improves the effectiveness and quality maintenance of IT systems, resulting in customers witnessing Return on Investment (ROI) from day one of system integration,” he added.

Scope of AI in India

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the buzzword in almost all industries. Decision-makers want to make use of massive data they get from various sources. This is where data analytics and artificial intelligence come into play. “We are witnessing rapid adoption of AI and machine learning technology in the advertising & media, finance and retail sectors in this region. Increase in the usage of natural language processing technology are contributing to the growth of the artificial intelligence market in India. AI is the wave which will push this generation towards the next industrial revolution. With business goals of most major industries aligning with the growth in technology, there comes an underlining need for them to turn towards big data and artificial intelligence said Dr. Jai Ganesh.

Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Director - Systems Engineering, NetApp Marketing & Services India concludes by saying “Artificial intelligence (AI) is still at a nascent stage in India but the potential is undeniable. The key to this growth lies in data, for any AI application will be only as smart as the data it collects and analyzes. Therefore, whether we talk about self-driving cars or the simple autocorrect on mobile; the future of artificial intelligence lies in real time and accurate data driven approach supported by a data management backbone.”
