AICTE Invites Applications from Engineers for Free Online Course on Embedded System Design with Certificate from IIT Madras

AICTE in collaboration with NPTEL India has launched a free certificate online course on embedded systems for undergraduate engineers

AICTE, Texas Instruments and NPTEL India have invited applications from undergraduate engineering students for a massive open online course (MOOC) on Embedded System Design using MSP430. The course couple with practical hardware designing course is available on the Government of India’s Swayam platform and is offered by NPTEL. Registered and selected participants will also get to work on free MSP430 MCU Lunchbox kit shipped by Texas Instruments to students’ colleges while attending the course.

The 12-week course will be conducted by Prof. Dhananjay V Gadre of Netaji Subhas University of Technology, and Prof Badri Subudhi from IIT Jammu. Upon successfully completing the course and taking the required examinations by paying Rs 1000, students stand a chance to get a certificate from IIT Madras, NPTEL, AICTE, and TI.

Who Can Take the AICTE Approved Free Online Course on Embedded System Design

Undergraduate students in engineering and science with an understanding of basic electronic components and circuits, digital electronics and C programming can take the course on embedded system design. The course will introduce various interfacing techniques for popular input devices including sensors, output devices and communication protocols. The course will also have a significant practical component, which will be achieved through a MSP430 microcontroller kit that will be distributed for free to selected participants.

Rewards for Students Who Take the AICTE Approved Free Online Course on Embedded System Design

Students who take the course and successfully complete the required examinations stand the chance to earn the following:

  • 1000 top scorers of the course and DrishTI online contest to be conducted by Texas Instruments will receive a cash prize of Rs 3000 each.
  • Three plus course credits will be given to students as per AICTE and NPTEL guidelines.
  • Upon passing the course examination, students stand a chance to earn a certificate from IIT Madras, NPTEL, AICTE, and TI.
  • There are several recognitions being offered to faculty as well.

How to Register for the Free Online Course on Embedded System Design

Interested participants will have to register on the official Swayam portal before 21 September 2020. The course begins on 14 September 2020, and examinations will be conducted on 20 December 2020. To receive the MSP430 microcontroller kit, universities and institutes are advised to go through the official notification in detail.
